Appalosa

Agile rugged, fast and tough, the spotted horses of the Nez  Perce drew the attention of settlers, which was attributed to the French name given to these animals, La Palouse, a reference to the river of the same name, located today in the State of Oregon. Exceptional for riding long distances and crossing steep and arid regions, the horse of the Nez Perce were subjected to a rigorous selection process based on the strength, courage and spotted coats.
